US coal production up 7.7% in week ended December 5, 2015

United States the world’s second largest coal producer has produced approximately totaled an estimated 16.1 million short tons (mmst) of coal in a week (For the week ended December 5, 2015), EIA said in its latest report.
According to EIA’s latest report, this production estimate is 7.7% higher than last week's estimate and 20.7% lower than the production estimate in the comparable week in 2014.
East of the Mississippi River produced totaled an estimated 6.4 mmst (up 8.47% week over week) and west of the Mississippi River produced totaled an estimated 9.8 mmst (up 7.69% week over week), according to weekly figures released by the US Energy Information Agency (EIA), on December 10, 2015.
U.S. year-to-date (as of December 5, 2015) coal production totaled an estimated 839.3 mmst, 9.6% lower than lower than the comparable year-to-date coal production in 2014.
