July 21: After finding markets in western India, US steam coal is now set to arrive at Paradip Port on the eastern coast of India, according to information available with ICMW.
Till now, US steam coal had been arriving mainly at the ports located on the western coast of India along with a few cargo consignments arriving at Krishnapatnam Port, industry sources said.
“A Kolkata-based company is in the final stages of concluding a deal to bring in one vessel of US steam coal through Paradip Port,” a source said.
“Up till now, US coal had not arrived at Paradip. But now the consignments will come in because coal mining has been banned in Meghalaya from April and consumers will need coal with high sulphur content, especially the brick kilns, and this coal is economically available only from the US,” the source added.
“The price of the material is likely to be in the range of $115-$120 per ton CIF Paradip,” the source said.
