September 9: The installed capacity of UltraTech Cement, flagship of the Aditya Birla Group, is expected to reach 70 million tons per annum (mtpa) by early 2016 after full commissioning of all on-going projects, Kumar Mangalam Birla said at the annual general meeting of the company.
Currently, the company’s installed capacity stands at nearly 62 mtpa, inclusive of 3 mtpa overseas. The company’s cement capacity in India stands at 58.8 mtpa after the acquisition of Gujarat Cement units of Jaypee Cement Corporation Limited, he added.
Speaking on the cement sector outlook he said, “Even as the outlook in the short term continues to remain uncertain, I believe, over the long term demand growth should move up to double-digit levels. The growth drivers will be housing and infrastructure.”
