: Non-coking (steam) coal imports via V O Chidambaranar Port (Tuticorin Port) stood at 1,189,544 tons in December 2015, up 11.16% month-on-month from 1,070,119 tons in November 2015, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
For the first nine months (April-December) of the current fiscal (2015-16), imports of the material via the port stood at 9,461,620 tons against 7,160,326 tons seen in the same period of the previous fiscal (2014-15).
The following table gives monthly break-up of imports of non-coking coal via VO Chidambaranar Port in 2014-15 and 2015-16:

In December 2015, out of the total quantity, 52,065 tons came from Russia at a unit price of Rs 5,287 ($79), 41,000 tons from South Africa at a price range of Rs 3,161- Rs 4,356 ($47-$65) per ton while 1,096,479 ton came from other locations at price ranges not available.
In November 2015, out of the total quantity, 52,000 tons came from Russia at a price of Rs 5,247 ($79) per ton, 34,580 tons from South Africa at a price range of Rs 3,114- Rs 4,574 ($47-$65) per ton while 983,539 ton came from other locations at price ranges not available.
