December 10: Imports of non-coking (steam) coal via V O Chidambaranar Port (Tuticorin Port) stood at 1,070,119 tons in November 2015, up 35.42% from 790,247 tons imported in October 2015, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
For the first eight months (April-November) of the current fiscal (2015-16), non-coking coal imports via this port stood at 8,272,076 tons against 6,525,143 tons in the same period of the previous fiscal (2014-15).

In November 2015, out of the total quantity, 52,000 tons came from Russia at a price of Rs 5,247 ($79) per ton, 34,580 tons from South Africa at a price range of Rs 3,114- Rs 4,574 ($47-$65) per ton while 983,539 ton came from other locations at price ranges not available.
In October 2015, out of the total quantity, 53,000 tons came from Russia at a price of Rs 5,243 ($79) per ton, 13,000 tons from South Africa at a price range of Rs 4,325- Rs 4,571 ($66-$69) per ton while 724,247 ton came from other locations at price ranges not available.
