November 12: Imports of non-coking (steam) coal via V O Chidambaranar Port (Tuticorin Port) stood at 790,247 tons in October 2015, down 22.47% from 1,019,333 tons imported in September 2015, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
For first seven months (April-October) of the current fiscal (2015-16), non-coking coal imports via this port stood at 7,201,957 tons while 5,498,832 tons had been imported in the same period of the previous fiscal (2014-15).

In October 2015, out of the total quantity, 53,000 tons came from Russia at a price of Rs 5,243 ($79) per ton, 13,000 tons from South Africa at a price range of Rs 4,325- Rs 4,571 ($66-$69) per ton while 724,247 ton came from other locations at price ranges not available.
In September 2015, out of the total quantity, 53,000 tons came from Russia at a price of Rs 5,212 ($79) per ton, 62,105 tons from South Africa at a price range of Rs 4,953- Rs 5,274 ($69-$79) per ton while 904,228 ton came from other locations at price ranges not available.
