Vedanta floats enquiry to procure 0.45 mt imported coal

December 15: Vedanta Ltd (formerly known as Sesa Sterlite Ltd/Sesa Goa Ltd), a Vedanta Group company, has floated an enquiry to procure 450,000 tons (+/-10%) of imported coal of any origin for its various power plants.
The company is looking to take delivery of the material in the first quarter (January-March) of 2016 on FOB/CFR basis.
The proposals from direct miners, marketing agents and traders of coal of any origin, with production/exports in excess of 3 million tons per annum, can be submitted till December 22 with validity till December 28.
The company is looking to procure coal with GCV (ADB) of 5,100-7,000 Kcal/kg, IM (ADB) of 3-12%, VM (ADB) of 22-42% and sulphur up to 1% among others.
Of the total material, 130,000 tons has to be delivered to MALCO/Vedanta Ltd (Tuticorin) with loading laycan January 20-30, 2016 and February 15-25, 2016 with discharge port being Tuticorin or Karaikal.
The balance 320,000 tons will have to be delivered to Hindustan Zinc Ltd with loading laycan January 20-30, January 25 to February 5, February 10-20 and March 1-10 with discharge port being Navlakhi or Kandla on the west coast of India.
