Vindhyachal STPS tops coal import charts in April

May 22: The Vindhyachal super thermal power station (STPS), one of the leading power utilities in India, imported the maximum quantity of coal out of all the power utilities in the country during April 2014, a compilation of data by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) revealed.
The amount of imported coal received by the utility stood at 1.62 million tons (mt) during April 2014 while the requirement stood at 1.64 mt.
During the month, the power utility received a total of 1.49 mt of coal from domestic sources Coal India Limited (CIL) and Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) whereas it procured 0.13 mt of imported coal.
