Coking coal imports through the port of Vizag went down 47.85% month-on-month to 213,244 tons in February 2016 against 408,963 tons in January 2016, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
In February 2015, coking coal imports through Vizag Port stood higher at 493,435 tons.
Total imports of the material for the first 11 months (April-February) of the current fiscal of 2015-16 were at 4,131,860 tons against 4,995,242 tons reported in the same period of the previous fiscal (2014-15), showing a drop of 17.28% year-on-year.
In financial year 2014-15, coking coal imports through the port stood at 5,512,372 tons.

February imports comprised 166,510 tons from Australia in a band of Rs 5,664 – Rs 5,773 ($83-84) per ton while 46,734 tons arrived from the US at a price band of Rs 6,496 – Rs 6,501 ($94-95) per ton.
Imports in January 2016 comprised 342,879 tons from Australia in a band of Rs 4,683 – Rs 6,497 ($69-96) per ton while the balance 66,084 tons arrived from Canada at a price band of Rs 5,554 – Rs 5,966 ($82-88)/ton.
