Vizag March steam coal imports drop 31% m-o-m

April 9: Steam coal imports through the port of Vizag decreased 31.02% to 485,905 tons in March 2015 against 704,397 tons in February 2015, as per provisional information available with ICMW.

In March 2014, steam coal imports through Vizag Port were at 531,518 tons.

Consequently, steam coal imports through the port for the entire financial year of 2014-15 stood at 9,671,349 tons as against 4,035,227 tons imported during 2013-14, showing an increase of over 139% fiscal-wise.

Following is the monthly break-up of steam coal imports via Vizag Port in 2013-14 and 2014-15:

In March, 348,304 tons arrived from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 2,147 – Rs 4,004 ($34-64) per ton while the balance 137,601 tons came in from South Africa in a band of Rs 4,050- Rs 4,700 ($64-75) per ton.

In February 2015, a volume of 456,240 tons arrived from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 2,120 – Rs 4,085 ($34-66) per ton and the balance 248,157 tons from South Africa in a band of Rs 3,820- Rs 5,374 ($61-86) per ton.
