Vizag Port Feb met coke imports plunge 94% m-o-m

Met coke imports through Vizag Port in February 2016 plunged by 93.72% month-on-month to a mere 4,000 tons against 63,685 tons in January 2016, as per provisional data available with ICMW.

Import volumes of this commodity have been fluctuating wildly since the beginning of the current fiscal.

Imports in February 2015 were at 14,513 tons.

Total imports of the material for the first 11 months (April-February) of the current fiscal of 2015-16 were at 252,733 tons against 116,418 tons reported in the same period of the previous fiscal (2014-15), showing a growth of more than 117% year-on-year.

Total imports of the material in 2014-15 were at 86,747 tons.

Following is the monthly break-up of met coke imports via Vizag Port in 2015-16 and 2014-15:

January 2016 saw all the consignments arriving from China in a band of Rs 10,613 – Rs 10,616 ($155) per ton.

In December 2015, all the consignments arrived from China as well but in a band of Rs 8,657 – Rs 10,704 ($130 -159) per ton.
