Vizag Port gypsum imports surge in Dec m-o-m

January 15: Gypsum imports through the port of Vizag surged to 49,869 tons in December 2014 against a mere 740 tons in November, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
In December 2013, gypsum imports through the port stood at 133,437 tons.
On a cumulative basis, imports of the material for the first nine months of the current fiscal stood at 650,249 tons while the same for the previous fiscal were at 801,422.
Following is the monthly break-up of gypsum imports via Vizag Port in 2013-14 and through 2014-15:

In December, 49,681 tons arrived from Oman in a band of Rs 1,332 – Rs 9,736 ($21-156) per ton while the balance 188 tons arrived from Vietnam in a price band of Rs 11,688- 11,921 per ton ($183-187).
In November, 429 tons arrived from Oman in a band of Rs 9,361 – Rs 9,705 ($151-156) 188 tons arrived from Vietnam at a unit price of Rs 11,835 ($191) and 50 tons from Iran at Rs 5,619 ($91) per ton.
