Vizag Port restricts movement of bulk cargo via OB1 berth

September 11: Vishakhapatnam Port has recently informed that all bulk cargoes except coking coal and steam coal will henceforth be handled through OB1 berth.

In a circular, the port said, "Except for coking coal and steam coal all bulk cargoes such as finished fertilizers, manganese ore, gypsum, lime stone, metallurgical coke, petroleum coke, iron ore pellets etc will be handled at OB1."

It further said that users will have to take utmost care to avoid dust emission and in case it is found that cargo is generating dust, the discharging operation will be suspended and users will be allowed to discharge cargo through barges only.

However, the truck movement for evacuation of fertilisers will be allowed at OB1 discharging point and the remaining cargo evacuation will be allowed by rail only.
