Coking coal imports through the port of Vizag went up a huge 145% month-on-month to 522,215 tons in March 2016 against 213,244 tons in February 2016, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
However, total imports of the material for the entire fiscal of 2015-16 were at 4,654,075 tons against 5,512,372 tons reported in the previous fiscal (2014-15), showing a drop of 15.57% year-on-year.
In March 2015, coking coal imports through Vizag Port stood at 517,130 tons.

Imports in March 2016 comprised 442,322 tons from Australia in a band of Rs 4,783 – Rs 6,460 ($71-95) per ton, 45,243 tons from Canada in a band of Rs 5,486 – Rs 6,014 ($80-87) per ton while the balance 34,650 tons arrived from Mozambique at a price of Rs 5,190 ($76)/ton.
February imports comprised 166,510 tons from Australia in a band of Rs 5,664 – Rs 5,773 ($83-84) per ton while 46,734 tons arrived from the US at a price band of Rs 6,496 – Rs 6,501 ($94-95) per ton.
