Met coke import volumes through Vizag Port seem to have gone into a tailspin, showing sharp decreases month-on-month since January 2016. Volumes in March 2016 touched a mere 23 tons against 4,000 tons in February 2016, as per provisional data available with ICMW.
Total imports of the material for fiscal 2015-16 were at 252,756 tons against 86,747 tons reported in the previous fiscal (2014-15), showing a sharp growth of more than 191% year-on-year.
Imports in March 2015 were at 11,721 tons.
Following is the monthly break-up of met coke imports via Vizag Port in 2015-16 and 2014-15:

March 2016 saw all the consignment arriving from China at a unit price of Rs 11,228 ($164) per ton.
February 2016 saw two consignments arriving from China as well but in a band of Rs 10,613 – Rs 10,616 ($155) per ton.
