Coking coal imports through the port of Vizag edged up 3.12% month-on-month to 327,006 tons in December 2015 against 317,110 tons reported in November, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
In December 2014, coking coal imports through Vizag Port had stood higher at 787,992 tons.
Total imports of the material for the first nine months (April-December) of the current fiscal of 2015-16 were at 3,509,647 tons against 3,968,475 tons reported in the same period of the previous fiscal (2014-15), showing a drop of 11.56% year-on-year.
In financial year 2014-15, coking coal imports through the port stood at 5,512,372 tons.

December imports comprised 304,845 tons from Australia in a band of Rs 5,367 – Rs 7,320 ($80-109) per ton while 20,000 tons arrived from Mozambique at a unit price of Rs 5,166 ($77) and 2,161 tons from the US at a unit price of Rs 7,236 ($108).
Imports in November comprised 277,593 tons from Australia in a band of Rs 5,367 – Rs 6,660 ($80-100) per ton while the balance 39,516 tons arrived from the US at a unit price of Rs 5,123 ($107).
