Met coke imports through Vizag Port in January 2016 spurted 85.65% month-on-month to 63,685 tons against 34,304 tons in December 2015, as per provisional data available with ICMW.
Import volumes of this commodity have been fluctuating wildly since the beginning of the current fiscal.
Imports in January 2015 were at a much lower 15,158 tons.
Total imports of the material for the first 10 months (April-January) of the current fiscal of 2015-16 were at 248,733 tons against 101,905 tons reported in the same period of the previous fiscal (2014-15), showing a growth of 144.08% year-on-year.
Total imports of the material in 2014-15 were at 86,747 tons.

January 2016 saw all the consignments arriving from China in a band of Rs 7,602 – Rs 10,613 ($113-158) per ton.
In December 2015, all the consignments arrived from China as well but in a band of Rs 8,657 – Rs 10,704 ($130 -159) per ton.
