December 8: Coking coal imports through the port of Vizag went down a moderate 24.16% to 317,110 tons in November 2015 against 418,141 tons reported in the previous month of October, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
In November 2014, coking coal imports through Vizag Port stood a higher at 424,193 tons.
Total imports of the material for the first eight months (April-November) of the current fiscal of 2015-16 were at 3,182,647 tons against 3,180,475 tons reported in the same period of the previous fiscal (2014-15), showing almost flat growth at 0.07% year-on-year.
In financial year 2014-15, coking coal imports through the port stood at 5,512,372 tons.

Imports in November comprised 277,593 tons from Australia in a band of Rs 5,367 – Rs 6,660 ($80-100) per ton while the balance 39,516 tons arrived from the US at a unit price of Rs 5,123 ($107).
October imports comprised 370,141 tons from Australia in a band of Rs 4,797 – Rs 7,112 ($73-106) per ton while the balance 48,000 tons arrived from Mozambique at a price band of Rs 5,811 – 6,061 ($87-93) per ton.
