Imports of limestone through the port of Vizag spurted by 286% month-on-month to 13,772 tons in March 2016 against 3,567 tons in February 2016, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
With the March figures, total limestone imports for 2015-16 stood at 416,307 tons against 403,811 tons seen in the previous fiscal, edging up 3.09% year-on-year.
In March 2015, limestone imports through the port had stood at 17,034 tons.

March 2016 saw a volume of 4,922 tons arrive from Vietnam in a range of Rs 5,599 – Rs 7,394 ($83-109) per ton, 2,000 tons from Thailand at a price range of Rs 6,876 – Rs 6,973 ($101-103) per ton and 6,850 tons from Malaysia at a price of Rs 2,594 ($38) amongst others.
In February 2016, a volume of 2,337 tons arrived from Vietnam in a range of Rs 5,463 – Rs 6,323 ($79-92) per ton, 750 tons from Thailand at Rs 6,972 – Rs 8,669/ton ($101-127) and 44 tons from Malaysia at Rs 6,616/ton ($96).
