December 8: Gypsum imports dropped a sharp 79.36% month-on-month in November 2015 to 24,817 tons against October’s 120,280 tons, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Throughout the current fiscal, import volumes of the material had been swaying wildly.
In November 2014, gypsum imports through the port had stood at a mere 740 tons.
With the November figures, total gypsum imports for the first eight months 2015-16 stood at 348,999 tons against 600,380 tons seen in the same period of the previous fiscal.
Imports of the material for fiscal 2014-15 stood at 702,789 tons.
Following is the monthly break-up of gypsum imports via Vizag Port in 2015-16 and through 2014-15:

In November 2015, a volume of 464 tons arrived from Oman at a price range of Rs 4,692 - 10,484 ($71-157) per ton, 218 tons from Vietnam in a band of Rs 10,841 – Rs 10,982 ($166) per ton and 24,135 tons from Iran at a price band of Rs 1,107 - 4,467 ($17-67).
In October 2015, a volume of 98,999 tons arrived from Oman at a wide price range of Rs 1,173 - 10,476 ($18-158) per ton, 182 tons from Vietnam in a band of Rs 10,841 – Rs 11,123 ($166-168) per ton and 21,100 tons from Iran at a price range of Rs 1,205 – 1,262 ($18-19) per ton.
