Vizag steam coal imports drop 11% in Nov m-o-m

December 11: Steam coal imports through the port of Vizag decreased 11.29% to 880,560 tons in November 2014 against 992,674 tons in October, as per provisional information available with ICMW.

In November 2013, steam coal imports through Vizag Port stood several times lower at 247,601 tons.

Consequently, steam coal imports through the port for the first eight months of the current financial year (2014-15) stood at 6,656,990 tons as against 2,042,366 tons imported during the same period in 2013-14.

Following is the monthly break-up of steam coal imports via Vizag Port in 2013-14 and 2014-15:

In November, 569,593 tons arrived from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 2,110 – Rs 3,925 ($34-63) per ton, 138,901 tons came in from Australia at Rs 3,600-Rs 4,950 ($58-80) while the balance 172,066 tons arrived from South Africa in a band of Rs 4,188- Rs 5,621 ($67-91) per ton.

In October, 750,492 tons arrived from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 2,328 – Rs 4,858 ($37-79) per ton, 36,000 tons came in from Mozambique at a unit price of Rs 4,290 ($69) while the balance 65,620 tons arrived from South Africa in a band of Rs 4,141- Rs 4,136 ($66-67) per ton.
