VoC Port to extend concession for steam coal handling

March 20: The board of V O Chidambaranar Port Trust has decided to extend the concession rate for steam coal (non-coking) coal handled for captive power plants and cement industries in Tuticorin and adjacent districts in Tamil Nadu, according to the port’s website.
“The board has decided to extend a 50% reduction in the labour levy and 50% reduction in wharfage. The board has also decided to increase the free period of storage of coal from the existing 3 days to 10 days,” the notice said.
