WB reiterates its opposition to price pooling

September 26: The West Bengal government might opt for more domestic coal if Coal India Ltd (CIL) sticks to price pooling for imported coal, state Power Minister Manish Gupta told ICMW.
"At present, CIL is the biggest supplier of coal and the share of imported coal is only 10%. We also source coal from coal blocks such as Gangaramchak, Bhadulia-Gangaramchak and Barjora. We are not ready to shell out more money for imported coal even if the price pooling method is insisted upon," the minister said.
In that case, he said, "We would look for other domestic options."
