Water storage at reservoirs at comfortable level

August 8: The water storage level at India’s important reservoirs, many of which offer hydro-power benefit, is currently at a comfortable level, according to data provided by the Central Water Commission.
The storage level in 85 important reservoirs was 88.735 BCM as of August 7, data shows.
The current level is 57% of the total storage capacity of 155.046 BCM. This level is 82% of the storage level of the corresponding period of last year, but 116% of the average storage level in the last 10 years.
These reservoirs include 37 having hydropower benefit with installed capacity of more than 60 MW. The total water storage capacity in the country is 253.388 BCM.
