March 21: A weak trend prevailed in international coal markets with buyers continuing to bid at lower prices, forcing sellers to reduce their offer rates, industry sources said.
This trend was particularly visible in the South African and Australian steam coal categories even as Indonesian steam coal prices remained unchanged amidst uncertainty related to imposition of royalty on coal in that country, they added.
Meanwhile, metallurgical coke prices fell sharply after a continuous fall witnessed in coking coal prices since the beginning of February.
