Weekly US coal train loadings average 69.7 trains/day, down 0.9 train/day on week: STB

Weekly coal train loadings averaged 69.7 trains/day in the week ended Jan. 15, down 0.9 train/day from the previous week, Surface Transportation Board data showed Jan. 22.
 
From the year-ago week, loadings were down 15.7 trains/day.
 
Of the four major basins, only loadings in Northern Appalachia rose week on week, by 0.9 train/day to 9.5 trains/day.
 
NAPP loadings also declined 1.8 trains/day year on year.
 
Powder River Basin loadings averaged 37.8 trains/day, down 1.5 trains/day from the previous week and down 9.4 trains/day year on year.
 
In the Central Appalachian basin loadings dropped 0.1 train/day to 12.4 trains/day, and from the year-ago week, they declined 0.3 train/day.
 
Average Illinois Basin loadings were 4.3 trains/day, down 1.2 trains/day week on week and down 0.2 train/day from the year-ago week.
 
From other regions, loadings averaged 5.8 trains/day in the most recent week, up 1.1 trains/day and down 0.8 train/day from the year-ago week.
