Weekly US coal train loadings averaged 79.2 trains/day in the week ended June 18, down 2.8 trains/day from the previous week and up 18.5 trains/day from the year-ago week, Surface Board Transportation data showed June 25.
In the Powder River Basin, loadings averaged 46.4 trains/day, down 0.1 train/day week on week and up 8.3 trains/day year on year.
Illinois Basin loadings averaged four trains/day, down two trains/day from the previous week and up 0.3 train/day from the year-ago week.
Average Northern Appalachian loadings dropped 0.2 train/day from the week before to 10.5 trains/day, and from the year-ago week, they rose 4.4 trains/day.
Central Appalachian loadings averaged 11.5 trains/day, down 0.7 train/day from the previous week and up 2.3 trains/day year on year.
In other regions, average loadings totaled 6.9 trains/day, down 0.2 train/day from the week before and up 2.9 trains/day from the year-ago week.
