January 21: Xcoal Energy & Resources (Xcoal) has brought in one more vessel of US- origin high sulphur, high calorific value (CV) steam coal to India after having successfully sold two parcels that were brought towards the end of November 2014, a top official from the company told ICMW.
“We have delivered one more vessel since November),” Xcoal’s CEO Ernie Thrasher said.
“All the coal that we had brought to India as of today has been sold to a very diverse group of small buyers,” he said.
Ernie said the company plans to bring several vessels to India every month as it plans to bring in as much as 5 million tons of US-origin coal to India every year.
“If we are going to have 5 mt, we are going to have a very high number of vessels coming to India every month,” Thrasher said.
