Yunnan January-August coal output down 4.2% y-o-y

Yunnan, a province with abundant coal resources in southwestern China, produced 31.6 million tonnes of coal over January-August this year, posting a year-on-year decline of 4.2%, showed data from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) on September 23.
Sales of commercial coal at Yunnan dropped 7.5% on year to 38.87 million tonnes during the same period, with those sent out of the province reaching 3.68 million tonnes, down 32.4% from a year ago, the NDRC data showed.
Total rail transport stood at 1.2 million tonnes over January-August, falling 40.1% from a year ago.
By end-August, coal stocks at enterprises across the province amounted to 1.37 million tonnes, dipping 6.5% on year but up 4.58% on month.
