China Coal Producers Book Bumper Profits on Elevated Prices

A number of Chinese coal producers have posted bumper profits for 2022, as tight supplies of the dirty fuel and increased demand drove up coal prices and sales.

Three of China’s major coal producers — Yankuang Energy Group Co. Ltd. (600188.SH), China Coal Energy Co. Ltd. (601898.SH) and Shaanxi Coal Industry Co. Ltd. (601225.SH) — all reported record profits for 2022, according to the companies’ annual reports filed to the Shanghai Stock Exchange earlier this month.
