China's major coal-transport railway overhauled to ensure supply
26 Aug 2022
The Datong-Qinhuangdao railway, or the Daqin Line,
is one of China's most important coal-transport railway lines. As the need for
coal keeps rising this summer, the Daqin Line has been busy transporting coal
from Datong City in Shanxi Province to the Qinhuangdao seaport in Hebei
Province.
However, continuous heavy rainfall has hit the
Daqin Line recently.
Railway workers have since
been overhauling the line to ensure safe and efficient operation. More staff
members have also been deployed to monitor key operations along the line to
ensure safety. Official statistics in July show the Daqin Line
transported nearly 38 million tonnes of coal, up 22 percent year on year. Since
the beginning of August, the line has transported more than 22 million tonnes
of coal.
