CIL partners with RRVUNL for 4,100 MW power generation projects in Rajasthan

This collaboration marks a significant step towards augmenting
power generation through a mix of coal-fired, solar, pump storage, and wind
energy projects, aimed at meeting the escalating energy demands of Rajasthan.
ew Delhi: In a
strategic move to diversify its portfolio, Coal India Limited (CIL)
has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Rajasthan Rajya
Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RRVUNL)
to jointly explore and develop power projects with a total capacity of 4,100 MW.
This collaboration marks a significant step towards augmenting power generation
through a mix of coal-fired, solar, pump storage, and wind energy projects,
aimed at meeting the escalating energy demands of Rajasthan.
The MoU, signed in the presence of Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and witnessed by
Minister of coal, mines and parliamentary affairs Pralhad Joshi, and Minister for power, new and
renewable energy R K Singh via virtual mode, paves the way for the development
of five key projects.

These include
two 800 MW coal-based pit-head power plants, a 2000 MW solar project, a 200 MW
pump storage project at Jawahar Sagar, a 250 MW solar project in Banswara,
and a 50 MW wind project in Jaisalmer.
Rajasthan, known for its commitment to expanding its energy infrastructure,
will acquire all the power generated from these initiatives, thus bolstering
the state's capacity to meet its growing energy needs.
As per the MoU, RRVUNL will ensure offtake guarantees and manage the necessary
land acquisitions and transfers for the projects. On its part, CIL will conduct
thorough feasibility studies and financial analyses to ascertain the viability
of each proposed project.
