Coal import increasing in India, 13 percent increase in coal import in February – India TV Hindi

Coal imports
in India have increased by 13 percent in February to 21.6 million tonnes. The
reason for increase in coal imports in February is due to companies
accumulating coal stocks in view of the increasing demand for electricity in
summer. The country’s coal import during the same period in the last financial
year was 1.91 crore tonnes.
In the report of news agency PTI, quoting data from Junction, it
was said that coal import has increased to 21.6 million tonnes in February
2024, which was 19.15 million tonnes in February.
Import of
non-cooking coal increased
In the total coal import in February, import of non-cooking coal
has increased to 13.77 metric tons, which was 11.68 metric tons earlier. At the
same time, the import of cooking coal has increased to 4.56 metric tons, which
was 4.40 metric tons in February 2023.
Coal import
reached 244.27 metric tons
According to the report, 244.27 metric tons of coal has been
imported in the months of April to February of the financial year 2023-24,
which was 227.93 metric tons a year ago. At the same time, during the period
from April to February of the last financial year, the import of non-cooking
coal has increased to 160.63 metric tons. Earlier it was 148.58 metric tons. At
the same time, the import of cooking coal has increased to 51.87 metric tons,
which was earlier 50.50 metric tons.
