Coal India reports 3.3% rise in December 2021 coal production to 60.2 MT; Stock jumps over 2.5%

Coal India Limited (CIL) reported a 3.3% rise in coal production to 60.2 million tonnes (MT) in December. The state-owned company had produced 58.3 MT of coal in the corresponding month of the previous fiscal, it said in a filing for exchanges on Saturday.
The company's coal output increased 5.3% to 413.6 MT during the April-December period from 392.8 MT in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal, it added. Coal India accounts for over 80% of domestic coal output.
Coal offtake increased in December 2021 by 15.7% to 60.7 MT compared to 15.5 MT in December last year. From April to December this year, the CIL offtake showed growth pf 17.6% to 481.8 MT from 409.8 MT during the same period last year.
At around 9.28 am, Coal India Ltd was trading at Rs149.85 per piece up by Rs3.8 or 2.6% from its previous closing of Rs146.05 per piece on the BSE.
