Coking coal is found on the eastern edge of the Appalachian Mountains

Jim Barker, president of Kittanning-based Rosebud Mining, showed a map of where coal is found in the United States – with the principal area for metallurgical coal being on the eastern slopes of the Appalachian Mountains.
