From 'Coal to LNG': Energy leaders discuss future strategies at Net Zero summit

Amidst increasing global emphasis on sustainability, industry
leaders at the ETEnergyworld India Net Zero Forum discussed the ongoing role of
traditional energy sources and new strategies for reducing emissions in
high-emitting sectors.

Delhi: Amidst increasing global emphasis on sustainability, industry leaders at
the ETEnergyworld India Net Zero Forum discussed the ongoing role of
traditional energy sources and new strategies for reducing emissions in
high-emitting sectors. Shaswattam, Executive Director of NTPC and
Head of the NTPC Energy Technology Research Alliance, highlighted the future
role of coal,
stating, "Coal-based power plants will continue to play a role in our
energy landscape for the foreseeable future." He also shared NTPC's
commitment to reducing CO2 emissions per unit from 850 grams to 500 grams
through various innovative measures.

CEO of GreenLine Logistics, spoke on the effectiveness of LNG as
a transition fuel, noting its environmental
benefits: "LNG serves as an effective transition fuel, reducing not only
carbon dioxide but also other harmful emissions such as NOx, SOx, and particulate
matter."
Sourabh Mukherjee, Executive Vice President of Tata Projects, discussed the
integration of ESG factors into business operations,
predicting substantial growth in this area, and reaffirmed Tata's ambitious
goal of achieving Net Zero by 2045.
The panel also addressed the need for sustainable practices in the logistics
and real estate sectors. Rampraveen Swaminathan, MD & CEO of Mahindra
Logistics Ltd, emphasized the electrification of last-mile deliveries and a
long-term focus on hydrogen. Annu Talreja, CEO of Accacia, called for a
significant shift in the real estate industry towards sustainable construction
materials and practices.
