India issued vesting orders for 10 coal mines

Coal Minister
Shri G Kishan Reddy, has announced vesting orders for ten key coal mines across
Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, and Madhya Pradesh. This includes one
fully explored and nine partially explored mines.
These mines,
with a combined reserve of 2,395 million tonnes, are expected to boost the
country’s energy security and economic growth. They are projected to generate
$19.96m (INR166.36) annually and attract $18m (INR150) in capital investment,
creating around 1,352 jobs.
Reddy called
on successful bidders to focus on increasing production and cutting imports
while emphasizing environmental sustainability. He stressed the need for
improving green cover, safety standards, and community welfare, including
healthcare, drinking water, and education.
Shri Satish
Chandra Dubey, minister of State for Coal, also underscored the need for
integrity and sustainable mining practices. Coal Secretary Shri Amrit Lal Meena
congratulated the bidders and urged swift operationalisation of the mines,
promising full support from the ministry.
