India’s coal production rises 5.33% in December 2024 to 97.94 MT

Captive and other mines contributed significantly with a
production of 18.95 MT, reflecting a 29.61% increase compared to 14.62 MT in
the same period last year.
New Delhi: India’s total coal production
reached 97.94 million tonnes (MT) in December 2024, recording a growth of 5.33%
compared to 92.98 MT in December 2023, according to data released by the
Ministry of Coal.
Captive and other mines contributed significantly with a production of 18.95
MT, reflecting a 29.61% increase compared to 14.62 MT in the same period last
year.
Cumulative coal production for FY 2024-25, up to December 2024, stood at 726.29
MT (provisional), marking a 6.11% growth compared to 684.45 MT during the
corresponding period of FY 2023-24.
Coal dispatch also witnessed a surge, reaching 92.59 MT in December 2024, a
6.36% increase from 87.06 MT in December 2023. Dispatch from captive and other
mines grew by 31.83%, totaling 18.13 MT compared to 13.75 MT in December 2023.
Cumulatively, coal dispatch up to December 2024 rose to 750.75 MT (provisional)
in FY 2024-25, achieving a 5.58% growth over 711.07 MT in the previous fiscal
year.>
