India’s coal production up nearly 3% in September

Coal dispatch also saw growth
last month.
As
India pushes to meet its growing energy demand, the Ministry of Coal has
reported a 2.49% increase in the country’s coal production, reaching 68.94
million tonnes (MT) in September.
For
the cumulative production in fiscal year (FY) 2024-2025, the ministry said coal
output reached 453.01MT, up 5.85% from 427.97 MT during the same period in FY
2023-2024.
India
also recorded improved coal dispatch in September, which increased 4.35% to
73.37 MT. The cumulative dispatch grew 5.54% to 487.87 MT, the ministry said.
For
coal stocks at dispatch, collection, and billing centres, India recorded a
51.07% growth to reach 33.46 MT as of 29 September 2024
The ministry said it is “continuing
to enhance coal production and optimising dispatch to meet the country’s
increasing energy demands.”
“The upward
trajectory in both production and dispatch bolsters energy security and to
achieve self-sufficiency in coal supply,” it added.
