Indonesian Co, Bara Daya Energi lowest bidder in CIL coal import tender

08 Jul 2022

Bara Daya Energi India has emerged as the frontrunner to bag the largest coal import tender by

Coal India Ltd

 NSE 2.04 % (

CIL

).

Adani Enterprises

NSE 0.82 % submitted the second-lowest bid. Last week, CIL had rejected the company during technical evaluation for another tender for importing 2.4 million tonne coal on grounds of inadequate paperwork.

Adani Enterprises had emerged as the lowest bidder for that tender, outbidding Mohit Minerals and Chettinad Logistics. The tenders for 6 MT of imported coal supply through the eastern and western coasts were opened on Thursday by Coal India.

Bara Daya and Adani were the only two bidders for the two tenders.

While Bara Daya quoted ₹4,331 crore for the eastern coast tender, Adani Enterprises' bid came in at ₹5,080 crore.

For the western coast tender, Bara Daya Energi quoted ₹4,497 crore, while Adani Enterprises submitted a quote for ₹5,035 crore.

Bara Daya Energi faced termination from an imported coal contract of
Gujarat State Electricity Corp in October last year.

Coal India on June 10 floated two international competitive bidding e-tenders of 3 mt each, to source coal from abroad. The company had estimated the value of the work at ₹3,850 crore for each tranche of 3 MTs.
