Shreeji Infrastructure Wins EPC Contract for Coal India’s 35 MW Solar Projects

The tender for the project was floated in February this year

Shreeji Infrastructure, a public infrastructure company, has been awarded an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract by Coal India for 35 MW solar projects and associated transmission systems in West Bengal.

Shreeji quoted ₹2.08 billion (~$25.4 million) to win the auction and was issued the letter of award (LOA) on June 16, 2023.

The company is required to commission the project within 12 months of receiving the work order.

BVG India was the other bidder that participated in the auction.

The tender for the projects was floated In February this year.

Shreeji Infrastructure will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the projects for five years which will be developed at one location in Satgram (Kalidaspur 10 MW) and two locations in the Kunustoria (Mahabir 12.5 MW and Amritnagar 12.5 MW) of Eastern Coalfield (ECL), West Bengal.

ECL will use the solar power generated for captive consumption.

The supply and erection of the transmission network for the projects will be undertaken by West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company (WBSEDC).

The company must submit performance security (first part of the security deposit) equivalent to 5% of the contract amount, i.e., ₹104.4 million (~$1.3 million).

Shreeji has submitted an earnest money deposit (EMD) of the tender ₹5 million (~$60,993).

The company must ensure the project’s net electrical energy guaranteed generation and capacity utilization factor is 71.106 million units and 23.19%, respectively, for the first year, with allowable degradation of 0.7% in subsequent years.

ECL has planned to evacuate the power generated from the 10 MW Kalidaspur solar plant at 33 kV level through the 33/6.6 kV ECL substation at Kalidaspur.

The power generated from Jorsha More Colony will be brought to the Kalidaspur substation, where it will be metered.

The generated power from the Amritnagar project will be evacuated to Mahabir Colliery via a 3 km overhead transmission line.

The combined generation in Mahabir Colliery will be evacuated using a 3.5 km double circuit 33 kV cable to the existing WBSEDC 33 kV overhead line near the Raniganj substation (the line connecting Bogra and Ranigaunj).
