Vostochnaya Mining Co. has started installing the largest main coal conveyor belt in Russia.
The project team has fully completed the preparatory work along the entire length of the main conveyor. Installation of metal structures is completed by more than 70%.
The Eastern Mining Co. is installing a main coal conveyor belt connecting the Solntsevsky coal mine with the coal seaport of Shakhtersk. The Sakhalin project is part of the Green Coal Cluster and is aimed at reducing harmful emissions into the atmosphere.
Aleksey Tkachenko, Director of VGK Transport Systems, said: “The project is unique in terms of its scale and technology. The total length of the conveyor is 23 km. Despite all the difficulties associated with the unprecedented nature of such construction, the VGK Transport Systems team professionally approaches the matter and copes with the tasks.”
“The main transport system consists of several interrelated projects: the main conveyor itself, the reconstruction of the port, the construction of a new automated warehouse at the opencast, the construction of two electrical substations and an intermediate warehouse. Now all sections of the transport system are under construction,” added Tkachenko.
The construction of a coal main conveyor is included in the list of priority projects in the Sakhalin Region. According to Aleksey Tkachenko, the commissioning of the entire complex will make it possible to remove dump trucks with coal from the roads of the Uglegorsk region. The conveyor will reduce the load on public roads, and will also make a significant contribution to the decarbonisation of the economy of the Sakhalin Region. The implementation of the project will create additional jobs. The construction of the main conveyor is being implemented as part of the free port of Vladivostok regime.
