Wyoming coal production takes a hit—lowest levels in 32 years
19 Nov 2024
Ever since former President Obama launched his war on coal
several years ago, Wyoming has been watchful of the impact on its coal
industry.
The state is an important source
for coal in the U.S., providing 40% nationwide. A Wyoming Geological Department
report in 2018 indicated Wyoming was the source of more than 91% of the coal
shipped by rail to 29 other states, including Oklahoma.
But production is on a decline and
it has the attention of state leaders who this week revealed it has been 32
years since Wyoming produced less than 200 million tons of coal, reported Cowboy State Daily.
